Apollyon is the keeper of the Keys. These Keys unlock absolutely anything - heaven's gates, hell's gates, gates that have been destroyed, gates that material beings can't touch - anything at all. You'd better hope he's having a *good* day if you ever meet him in the game setting...

Apollyon is one of the cherubim, hence the four eye-wings, four faces, and the calf feet.
