Description
This is a cover illustration for the final (for now) Amazing Conroy novel by Lawrence Schoen. I don't know the book's title yet, and the story itself is still in the revision stages. Lawrence typically writes very clever science fiction that reminds me of kinder and gentler Harlan Ellison stories. It's very, very difficult to predict where he's going to take his characters, but it's always a fascinating journey through well-written prose.
Lawrence provided me with a general idea he wanted to see: Reggie the buffalito in an unapologetic "play bow" atop an ancient Mayan-esque stela. Reggie has nibbled on the upper bits (as buffalitos are alien, engineered creatures which can eat literally anything), which I suspect that Conroy has just told him NOT to do.
Prismacolor pencil.

Excellent work! The stela is magnificent!
