Full Title: Predator: Float Like a Butterfly

Kiriban for :icontenebrian: for capturing as close to the 90,000th pageview as anyone reported. :D

This is Tenebrian's Predator character, Lar'jazab-di. She didn't give me any instructions other than that this was a female Predator and that she needed to have one of my habitually baroque armor designs. Colors she left to me, which is occasionally a very bad idea... As the colored pencils told me that the armor had to be BLUE-VIOLET. :la:

Accomplished with ink, watercolor, Prismacolor pencils, silver paint pen.

I finally am giving her a name, but I'm not up to writing a story for her just yet. Her name is going to be Lar'jazab-di or an appropriate nickname based on that like Lar'ja or Zab-di. I took the name from: Dark (Lar'ja), Insect (Zabin), and Datoudi (Little Knife). The name was inspired by the armor to vaguely represent Little Dark Flying Insect or something akin to Dark Moth.

Lmao. I love the comment about the color. I find your use of bright colors fascinating. It made me open my mind to using more colors in my own artwork, however it's been nearly a year since I've had the time to draw anything. (pouts)....

Now, I'm going to have to find the time to name her and write her a story. XD... I was looking up Yautja names, but I wasn't quite sure how the language works. Don't ask me how they manage to pronounce Dachande/ Yayinde with those mandibles (lol).

It's TRUE! I had originally thought up a more muted, kind of payne's gray color scheme. But once I slapped the blue-violet in the shadows to deepen them, I loved the way it looked and decided to emphasize, rather than subdue, the shadow color. I expect this is merely a result of starting the week on psychadelic birds and dragons, then trying to do something else... ;-)

Don't worry too much about "proper" names. Kind of like John, Mary, and Mohammed, you'll find half the DeviantArt Yautja population with the names Yeyinde, Dachande, or Doudtoudi. I say make it up as you go along, and don't forget to add plenty of apostrophies. My gang has crazy names that have a feel for the language as the Perrys presented it without having much to do with the actual couple-dozen words they introduced. Setg'in-de' paya Mni'awusthe is one of the crazy gods, and Chaunn’tne-di Aknese’hara is my main character. No, there is no clean phonetic structure for accommodating people with mandibles. I figure their throats are more mobile than ours and serve some of the same functions that our tongues, throats, and nasal resonators do. :D

True enough about the language. :) I notice that authors have a fondness for putting in apostrophes into fantasy and sci-fi names lol. I have to find some way to break the mold now, although I like your names.

The color of the armor works really well in this pic, unique. I also really enjoy the weapon that she's gracefully flailing around. =)
