When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

Older drawing; most advanced state of the really-hard-to-read inking style.
Back when Kansas City was bidding for the opportunity to host WorldCon 2006, the guys wanted several artists to design images where we couldn't tell where the creature began and the instrument ended. KC was using the Jazz and Blues theme as a draw for the convention, so a lot of musical SF and Fantasy drawings came out of that effort. The latter two members of the Jazzdragon series [link] and [link] are among them . For this Nautilus Knot, I was inspired by Bob Eggleton's covers to the Titus Crow books. Naturally, I went for a nautilus playing something that approaches both brass and pipe organ. I may redo this one someday in full color, sans ink, because I want to see if I can still do uber-shiny brass... Original artwork: available - $45 Prints: not available |
