Meadow Dragon

This was a quick little piece meant to eat up some other project scraps, and to relax me before I head off into the Next Big Thing.  

I used Blick Studio Artist's Pencils on the dragon.  The Blick pencils, which I used for the first time here, aren't all that bad - they feel somewhere between soft Prismacolors and hard Faber Castelles.  I cut the dragon out of its original background and worked it in between the layers of grass.

The deep background (the mountains) is watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and Prismacolor.  The grass is cut out in about six layers, and is watercolor on bristol board, with Koh-i-Noor Tritone pencil overlays to bring in some texture.  There are a variety of 3D bits and bobs sprinkled throughout.

This piece is about 8x9 inches and will be matted to a standard 11x14.
