Living Breath of Summer

...And now for something completely different.

I wasn't really sure about this idea when I started out, but once I drew in that bird - just in the pencil stages - the color scheme leaped into my head and then bled out all over the paper.

This is definitely an odd piece for me. I don't usually use negative space as a major compositional element, but the idea of openness is a particularly important thematic element in this one. The message is, as usual, a simple one - we all become ourselves. We start as one thing and we end as something new. That, and dandelion tufties floating on a hot breeze have always lifted my spirits.
