This was a surprise commissioned piece for Barb's New House. The friends who commissioned it wanted a dragon, elements in threes (like the pattern on its wings and the frieze on the little temple), and in a style reminiscent of the Pre-Raphaelites. I don't think I quite hit it on the Pre-Raphaelite styling, though I did pick up some elements there that were popular - particularly the "natural world" bits. I painted this with watercolor, then went in and did a boatload of detailing with colored pencil. The pigeons must die.
Original Artwork: sold.
Prints available: 8x10 inches for $15. 11x14 inches for $30. 16x20 inches for $50.
Wow! It seems rare these days to see people who don't resort to computer coloring. This is so impressive and beautiful! The colors match up well, and the amount of vivid detail captures my eye, and gives out this whimsical feeling. My god I wish I could paint like this with watercolors. Your shading ability is magnificant, and so is your control with how small the details can be. The dragon has such passion and pride, it's wonderful to see. This is just so amazing, I must fav!
Fantastic job! This is a magnificent beast, indeed. The presence of the pidgeons suggests that this dragon is peaceful as well as mighty. An honorable combination!
beautiful mix-media! I love that tail the forground came out real nice and the details on the building is amazing! the only thing that bothers me is probably the sky

That is one of the most beautiful dragons I have ever seen! The colors are so fitting and the coloring itself is marvelous! I love those markings on the wings. Just so..gorgeous.. And you know, it is wonderful to see what traditional way can do to the picture! Absolutely better than digital medias, if you ask from me.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
