This is the 5th of 6 pieces I'm making for the DST Art From the Cube contest.
I'm really pleased with the way this one turned out. This is probably the most wild patterning and coloring job I've ever done... Er, this week. Inspiration comes to me from many sources, and two of my favorites are large tropical flowers and small tropical fish. The hibiscus flower rules the day, but not the color scheme. Christmas wrasse and the East-Indies parrotfish inspired the patterns and colors of the pegasi. I did deviate quite a bit from the actual fish patterns, but the colors are all there.  This one is Prismacolor pencil over a watercolor wash - a technique with which I'm very comfortable. Not much experimentation for this one; not nearly as much as some of the other contest pieces. But I needed a sure-fire winner, at least in my own mind.  This one is actually fairly small, too. It's 11x14 inches. I completed it in approximately 20 hours over the course of about a week.
