Dragons of Every Dawn WIP: YG, Y, YO, O, RO by rachaelm5 Dragons of Every Dawn WIP: YG, Y, YO, O, RO by rachaelm5
This bruiser of a commission is just about finished. I have only the red rat-dragon remaining, and I hope to tend to that before the end of the year.

I used Prismacolor pencil and gold paint pen, and the black background is Photoshop for now. I have guidelines underneath that black that help me align it on the scanner bed. I have to scan it in ten parts (twelve, once the rat is finished), then assemble it all in Photoshop.

Final dimensions: 18 x 36 inches.

Thanks! I'm hoping that the next few days will give me time to get the last dragon finished. :D

Very pretty results! I just love the red (or is it orange-red?) dragons design! Love the horns, scales, and hooves! :D
I really like that I can tell each dragon apart, as in their colors don't blend into one another. Can't wait to see how you color the last one. :O

Thanks very much!

Yes, the ox is orange-red. The rat-dragon will be true red. I'm hitting primary, secondary, and tertiary colors in Proper Spectral Order. :D The cool colors will be on the second picture.

Getting the dragons to separate has been a challenge, especially the yellow and yellow-orange pair. The colors are so close in value that they don't separate out very well at a distance. I'm still working on that; I'll proabably end up adding a bit more orangey-brown to the rabbit where its feathers abut the lightest edge of the yellow dragon.
