Post-Dragon*Con update: Oh. My. Gawd. The charity project entries were actually for a contest. And I won first place! The box earned $80 for the American Heart Association at the auction.
Bet you didn't know I could sculpt. Well, that makes two of us! It's been about ten years since I tried to sculpt anything, so I had to relearn some stuff as I went along.
This is a project for the 2008 DragonCon charity auction that will benefit the American Heart Association. The art show directors sent artists a plain wooden heart box and told us to do amazing things with it. This is what I created.
I used Model Magic (it's like sculpting with marshmallow fluff), with craft glue to fill the cracks (because the wooden box absorbed the moisture from the modeling fluff). I painted it with acrylics, then used a glossy spray to seal in the color. I added star sequins around the outside.
Dad took the picture of the box that's in full daylight. I used my scanner to get a round of details later.
I didn't know you could sculpt, you're right! Very pretty, too. It's nice that you're doing this for charity, too.

Ive never really wanted to go to Japan. Simply because I dont like eating fish. And I know thats very popular out there in Africa. - Britney Spears
This reminds me of the full moon. Everytime I see it, I can see a dragon in it. The head, the collar, the chest and a wing. The rest can't be seen just like the dragon on your sculpted heart! That's why I love it. It's beautiful.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I try to do some charity work every year, and I almost always contribute a pack of prints to each convention I visit.
