Distant Star 04

I'm getting ready to undertake a huge and ambitious project for Mom, and it occurred to me that I haven't done any complex color-work in quite a while. (Xenofelidae Luna was actually a pretty simple color job, all things considered.) This next bird in the Distant Star series provided a good test and an enjoyable challenge with a full-color palette.

The premise behind this series is that each of the sentient stars in this vast universe have their own attendant phoenix. Since many of them have different chemical constituents, or burn hotter or cooler, the phoenixes' colors and styles reflect that variety. They don't represent any *specific* stars, but merely offer a rationalization for whatever color scheme pops into my head when I start coloring them.
