Dance with the Night Wind by rachaelm5 Dance with the Night Wind by rachaelm5
Trade for :iconrose-as-red:, featuring her vampire character Minerva and ~kurome-tenshi's character Israfel (with significantly more hair... oops).

I went witih a totally different color scheme than the one I'd originally planned. You see, I was actually going for *somber* with nice reds and midnight blues and BLACK. I wound up with what I ususally wind up with - high-chroma psychadelia. I swear this stuff just HAPPENS. Especially that... thingy... in the background.

Ink, watercolor, Prismacolor pencils. :boogie:

Your shading of different color blends nicely. The details of the outfits are really nice as well. what do you call the thing they are dancing on? Or is it just a prop?

Thanks very much. Prismacolors are a lot of fun to blend together - they're soft enough that the blending is very smooth, almost like sculpting in a layer of clay. :-)

The thing they're dancing on... I have no idea. Perhaps it's a giant glass sculpture. It did rather end up like that, didn't it? I must be channeling Chihuly. ;p

Ooo I bet that would make some interesting pictures if its used and has a contrasting color behind it

Ooh, pretty! I like this color scheme! Deep reds can be vampiric colors, too! And whatever that thing is in the back, it adds a nice contrast!

...Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking about when I drew it originally. I *liked* the shape, but it ended up going all abstracty on me toward the end. ;-)

Thank you. Elegance is definitely what I was trying to achieve, though it's still a bit on the high-chroma side to work as well as I might have liked. ;-)

Eeeeee! I love it!

So, yeah. His hair's about four inches longer. Who cares? Mebbe he got a haircut later...

I bask in the glory of your art, dear. Wonderful job!

Thanks very much. I have to hand it to the Renaissance Faire folks - they sure know how to make costumes. I don't know WHAT I'd do without them to inspire my keen fashion sense... ;p
