I couldn't decide whether this was more fantasy or horror, but I finally decided that the river o' blood and bones qualifies it as fairly horrific, so there we go.
This is actually a cover illustration for Paul's HeroQuest Monster Matrix guide. I wanted it to be evil. I mean, really, subtly, nastily, gooshily EVIL. Slurp.
I did this with colored pencil. I did it in about 10 hours over two days. My hand really, really hurts now, but I am blissfully happy with my end results.

*Sits here trying to figure out how to get her pretty prisma pencils to do this for her* x.X....I practice coloring everyday and I still can't get it to look that good.....I love how cooool it is!!! XDD >.> <.< *dashes off and huggles teh ebilized dwaggie* <3 can't resist a dragon xDDD
Oh, you'd probably not want to hug this particular dragon. He'd eat you!
I color on a surface that has a somewhat rough texture - I used cold-pressed illustration board in this case. It takes abuse very well, and it can handle the many, many layers of pencil I lay down.
The secret with Prismacolors is to layer your colors. Lots of layers. I press really hard, too, to get the colors to blend together almost like clay. I tried the colorless blenders before - both the pencil kind and the marker kind - and I wasn't particularly pleased with the results. I just use layers of color.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
